FURIA Esports is reportedly poised to bench Felipe “skullz” Medeiros from its active Counter-Strike 2 roster as the organization gears up for another significant roster change this year. This development comes at a time when the Brazilian team has struggled to gain momentum, having faced challenges in clinching tournament victories since the beginning of the year.

In an effort to revitalize their competitive edge, FURIA recently added Danil “molodoy” Golubenko from AMKAL ESPORTS at the start of the month. Furthermore, sources indicate that Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis is the frontrunner to fill the vacancy left by skullz, marking a strategic move within the organization.

YEKINDAR, a 23-year-old sharpshooter, joined FURIA in July 2024 after a notable tenure with Team Liquid, where he recorded an average performance rating of 1.02 alongside a commendable 62.7% map win rate. However, under FURIA’s banner, skullz struggled to replicate this level of performance, concluding his nine-month stint with a subpar average rating of 0.99.

Throughout 2025, FURIA participated in five tournaments, including four prestigious S-Tier events, but unfortunately failed to progress to the knockout stages. Their lackluster performance culminated in a disheartening last-place finish at the BLAST Open Spring 2025, where they suffered defeats to Natus Vincere and M80, followed by a 12th-14th place finish at the PGL Bucharest event.

While the transition remains unofficial, YEKINDAR’s introduction to the lineup is highly anticipated as he seeks to re-establish himself in the Tier 1 competitive scene, following his removal from Team Liquid’s active roster at the conclusion of 2024. Since being benched, YEKINDAR has participated in several smaller tournaments and notably partook in the PGL Bucharest 2025 qualifiers with Roler Coaster, achieving an impressive average rating of 1.20 during the European qualifier.

This potential reshaping of FURIA’s roster underscores the dynamic nature of the esports industry, where performance metrics and strategic roster adjustments are critical for maintaining competitive viability. As FURIA navigates these changes, fans and analysts alike will be watching closely to see how these developments affect the team’s performance in the coming months.

Stay tuned for further updates on this situation, as the esports landscape continues to evolve and teams strive for excellence at the highest levels of competition.
