Michigan’s iGaming Operators Achieve Impressive $248.1 Million Revenue in April

In April, Michigan’s iGaming landscape showcased robust growth with operators generating an impressive $248.1 million in revenue from online slots and table games. Although the state narrowly missed setting a new record this month, it clearly demonstrated a year-on-year revenue increase attributed to the thriving online gambling sector.

According to the Michigan Gaming Control Board, the total revenue from online gambling, which also encompasses sports betting, reached $290.7 million. This figure marks a remarkable 23.8% growth compared to the previous year and falls just short of the all-time record established in March 2025.

When considering adjusted gross receipts after promotional expenditures, total revenue climbed to $259.9 million—an impressive 28.7% increase annually and just 0.3% below March’s total.

Online Slots and Table Game Revenue Hits $248.1 Million

April was a significant month for online slots and table games, generating gross receipts totaling $248.1 million. While this revenue surpassed the prior year’s totals, it did not match March’s figures.

In terms of adjusted gross receipts, the total reached $233.1 million, reflecting a robust year-on-year surge of 33.9%.

Dominating the market, FanDuel and MotorCity Casino reclaimed the top position with gross receipts of $67.6 million and adjusted gross receipts of $63.5 million. Meanwhile, BetMGM and MGM Grand Detroit, which led in March, secured second place with $64.9 million in gross receipts and $61 million in adjusted earnings.

DraftKings and the Bay Mills Indian Community rounded out the top three operators, achieving gross receipts of $42.5 million and adjusted figures of $40 million.

State revenues from iGaming taxes totaled $48.2 million, with Detroit benefiting from $13.1 million from commercial operators. Tribal operators contributed an additional $5.6 million to governing authorities.

Mixed Results for Sports Betting in Michigan

Turning to sports betting, gross receipts experienced a slight year-on-year increase of 1.7%, totaling $42.6 million. However, adjusted gross receipts saw a decline of 3.6%, amounting to $26.8 million. Notably, total handle for the month rose by 4.7%, reaching $417.9 million.

For April, the state’s hold based on gross receipts was recorded at 10.1%, while the adjusted monthly hold came in at 6.41%.

Leading the market again, FanDuel and MotorCity Casino reported gross receipts of $19.1 million from a handle of $154.6 million, establishing a solid hold of 12.35%.

DraftKings and the Bay Mills Indian Community ranked second with $10.5 million from a handle of $114.9 million, yielding a 9.14% hold. Meanwhile, BetMGM and MGM Grand Detroit completed the top three, generating $5.8 million from $53.9 million with a 10.76% hold.

The sporting betting tax contributions to the state reached $1.4 million, while Detroit received $504,986 from commercial operations.

Detroit Casino Revenue Sees Slight Increase in April

The Michigan Gaming Control Board also reported revenue figures for Detroit’s three commercial casinos for April. Total revenue amounted to $109.8 million—an increase of 0.4% year-on-year, although 6.5% lower than March’s figures.

Table games and slots collectively generated $109.5 million, reflecting a year-on-year uptick of 1.5%. However, qualified adjusted gross receipts declined significantly by 79.8%, hitting $336,021, with a hold at 2.57% from a handle of $9.4 million.

MGM Grand Detroit maintained its market dominance, capturing a 47% share, followed by MotorCity Casino at 30% and Hollywood Casino at Greektown with a 23% share.

The trio of casinos contributed $8.9 million in state gaming taxes and paid $13 million for various city operations. Furthermore, retail sports betting taxes contributed an additional $20,276 to the state and $24,781 to Detroit.
