Recent investigations by the Rajasthan Police have unveiled a significant online betting syndicate valued at over ₹150 crore, leading to the apprehension of three suspects in Alwar, including a software engineer.

This group is alleged to have operated approximately 30 illegal betting websites that mimicked the popular Mahadev Satta platform. They offered wagering on cricket matches—most notably the Indian Premier League (IPL)—alongside various online casino games and traditional betting formats, such as matka.

Sanjeev Nain, Superintendent of Police in Alwar, reported that the suspects crafted counterfeit betting applications to lure users. Payouts from bettors were reportedly processed through digital platforms and underground hawala networks. The investigation initiated when cyber cell Head Constable Sandeep was detained by officers from the Udyog Nagar Police Station, prompting a thorough examination into the syndicate.

The individuals in custody include Nitin Paliwal from Scheme No. 10B in Alwar, Mahesh Sharma of Apnaghar Shalimar, and Piyush Sharma from Shivaji Park in Mathura. Paliwal was apprehended while returning from Agra, and crucial data retrieved from his electronic devices shed light on the extensive operations of the syndicate.

Authorities assert that the arrested individuals were involved in all facets of the racket, from software development to the management of financial operations. As investigations progress, law enforcement anticipates further arrests as more connections emerge across the nation.

All three suspects are currently in four-day custody, with police planning to seize assets linked to the operation under organized crime legislation as detailed in the Indian Penal Code.
