In a significant turn of events within the competitive esports landscape, the French Counter-Strike 2 team, Mercenaries, has officially disbanded as of April 16, 2025. This announcement was made by Kévin “misutaaa” Rabier on his social media platform, X.

The dissolution of the team follows the recent departures of Aurélien “afro” Drapier and Ali “hAdji” Haïnouss, who transitioned to Monte earlier this month. Their exit left the Mercenaries with an incomplete roster consisting of Nathan “NBK-” Schmitt, Thomas “Djoko” Pavoni, and misutaaa, thereby marking the end of the fledgling team’s journey.

🇫🇷 Malheureusement après quelques semaines ensemble le projet Mercenaires s’arrête de façon prématurée suite aux départs de certains joueurs. Je suis Free Agent, grind face it / FPL et ouvert à toutes les opportunités !

🇬🇧 Unfortunately, after a few weeks…

The Mercenaries project was established in March 2025, strategically aiming to prepare for the PGL Bucharest European qualifiers. Despite their efforts, the team fell short of qualifying for this prestigious LAN event, finishing just two matches away from success.

Over the following weeks, Mercenaries attempted to establish their footing by participating in several other qualifying tournaments, including the PGL Astana 2025 European Qualifier and the YGames PRO Series 2025 European Open Qualifier #3. However, these endeavors did not yield the desired results, hampering the team’s progress in competitive play.

Most recently, NBK- and his teammates participated in the Fragster Challenger Series, where they fielded Nabil “Nivera” Benrlitom as a stand-in for Paul “PerX” von Erdmannsdorff. Unfortunately, the team faced elimination in the quarterfinals, suffering a 0-2 defeat to Nexus Gaming.

With the dissolution of Mercenaries, NBK-, Djoko, and misutaaa have re-entered the free agency market, although only misutaaa has publicly announced his availability for new opportunities. This situation presents potential for restructuring and new partnerships in the dynamic world of esports.

Prior to his involvement with Mercenaries, misutaaa was last active in November 2024, competing in the Chicken.GG Cup with his former team, 9INE. Djoko’s last competitive appearance was with 3DMAX at the Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2025 in February, while NBK- has been without a team since parting ways with Revenant Esports in September 2024.

This disbandment highlights the unpredictable nature of the esports industry, where team compositions evolve rapidly, and individual players must remain adaptable to seize the myriad of opportunities within the competitive landscape. As these players navigate their free agency, the potential for new team formations and renewed competitive spirits remains high. Stay tuned for updates on successful transitions and emerging rosters in the ever-evolving arena of esports.
