ICE to showcase leading female esports stars – Esports

The upcoming ICE London event promises to be an exhilarating showcase of talent, featuring the world’s premier female FIFA players. The Shesports Cup franchise will present an all-women team at the ICE Esports Arena, offering attendees the unique opportunity to challenge them to matches and enjoy a competitive atmosphere.
George Woffenden, co-founder of the Shesports Cup, expressed enthusiasm about participating in such a pivotal industry event. “We are thrilled to be invited to the ICE exhibition in February and to engage with a global audience of industry leaders. This marks our fifth live broadcast, and we anticipate an electrifying few days of competition,” he stated.
The Shesports Cup aims not only to highlight female players but also to create opportunities for women behind the scenes in esports. Woffenden emphasized that the organization is committed to fostering a more inclusive environment. “Co-founder Rachel Stringer has long recognized the underrepresentation of women in FIFA esports. Her initiative led to the creation of a women-only esports series, addressing this gap effectively.”
“Our objective is twofold: to inspire more female players and to offer pathways for women in fields such as production, photography, and social media, ultimately elevating women’s roles in the esports ecosystem,” Woffenden explained. “To truly support aspiring female players, structured tournaments and regular engagement with peers are essential for development and progression.”
Woffenden elaborated on the rationale for showcasing FIFA, highlighting its accessibility for all, including those new to esports. “FIFA stands as the most approachable game, featuring a roster of current female professionals and aspiring athletes,” he noted. “Our partnership with EA Sports has been instrumental in ensuring that tournament structures and broadcasts meet the highest industry standards. Moreover, our collaboration with Twitch has allowed us to amplify our broadcasts, engaging a wider audience.”
Looking ahead, Woffenden expressed a keen interest in expanding their offerings to include other celebrated esports titles. “We are eager to initiate conversations with major developers like Activision, Fortnite, Ubisoft, and League of Legends. Hosting all-female tournaments or series is crucial for inspiring future generations of female gamers and esports participants,” he asserted.
In summary, the Shesports Cup embodies a movement towards inclusivity within the gaming and esports industries, demonstrating that with targeted efforts and collaborations, the landscape can evolve to welcome more women into these competitive arenas.
