Everton FC Solidifies Record-Breaking Partnership with Cryptocurrency Casino Stake.com

In a landmark move, Premier League football club Everton FC has entered into a club-record sponsorship deal with the cryptocurrency casino operator Stake.com, officially designating them as the club’s front-of-shirt partner. This partnership not only amplifies Everton’s brand presence but also marks a significant step in integrating cryptocurrency into the traditional sports sponsorship landscape.

The Stake.com branding will prominently adorn the front of Everton’s playing shirts for both the men’s and women’s teams. Additionally, the operator’s logo will be visible on digital screens at Goodison Park, the men’s stadium, and at Finch Farm, the women’s training facility. Stake.com will also feature prominently across Everton’s digital marketing platforms, enhancing visibility among fans and potential bettors alike.

Although Stake.com is recognized for its cryptocurrency-based gaming options, its operations within Great Britain are conducted under a white label license from TGP Europe, as the Gambling Commission currently prohibits cryptocurrency gambling in the region. This strategic alignment allows Stake to engage with Everton’s extensive fanbase while navigating regulatory frameworks effectively.

Stake.com has been rapidly expanding its sponsorship portfolio, recently securing agreements with high-profile personalities, including former Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero and Canadian music icon Drake. Furthermore, the operator also established a multi-year partnership with Watford FC last year, signifying its aggressive growth strategy within the sports betting landscape.

Denise Barrett-Baxendale, Everton’s Chief Executive, expressed her enthusiasm regarding the partnership, emphasizing that the record deal was a result of the club’s newly formed revenue team, which is focused on optimizing all commercial assets to boost revenue streams. “My talented colleagues have demonstrated remarkable progress and dedication in securing what is now the largest main partnership in the club’s history,” Barrett-Baxendale stated. “We are immensely grateful to Stake.com for choosing Everton as a long-term strategic partner.”

Additionally, she hinted at upcoming initiatives, stating, “We have already begun collaborating with Stake.com on innovative activities and content tailored for our local and international supporters, and we’re excited to unveil these plans in the near future.”

Akhil Sarin, Stake.com’s Head of Acquisition, underscored the synergy between Stake and Everton, noting how the club’s ambitions resonate with the operator’s growth objectives. “Partnering with Everton, a club rich in heritage and known for its passionate supporter base, is a significant milestone for us,” Sarin remarked. “Our growth ambitions align seamlessly with those of Everton, as we continue to expand our global footprint and enhance our presence in high-tier sports sponsorship.”

Stake.com views this partnership as an honor, particularly as the club prepares for its transition to a new stadium. “We look forward to celebrating this exciting new chapter in Everton’s history alongside fans globally,” Sarin concluded.

Previously, Everton held a sponsorship deal with sports betting operator SportPesa from 2017 until 2020, a partnership that was terminated earlier than its anticipated 2022 expiration. Although reasons for the early termination were not disclosed publicly, Everton cited a thorough review of its commercial strategy aligned with its vision and future growth plans.

As discussions surrounding the future of front-of-shirt football sponsorships intensify, especially in light of the current review of the 2005 Gambling Act, the growing integration of cryptocurrency operators within the sports betting sector raises questions about the regulatory landscape. Reports indicate that certain sponsorship practices may face scrutiny and potential restrictions as the review progresses.

With the convergence of technology and sports marketing, partnerships like that of Everton and Stake.com represent the evolving dynamics within the gambling industry, highlighting the innovation and adaptability that stakeholders must embrace in this rapidly changing environment.
