Stage 2 of the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025 has concluded with remarkable excitement, narrowing the competition to 16 teams and showcasing a series of upsets, extraordinary performances, and record-setting viewership figures.

As the playoffs loom, the Austin Major has already eclipsed last year’s metrics from the Shanghai event in several critical areas of CS2 broadcasting, even before the top-tier teams take to the stage.

One of the most astonishing developments was the early exit of Team Falcons. Entering the tournament as a favorite, the squad faltered, securing only a single win over OG before being eliminated by MIBR in a pivotal decider match. This nail-biting encounter attracted over one million concurrent viewers, marking the highest viewer count for any Stage 2 match. It was also significant for being the first non-playoff match to reach this threshold in three years.

Additionally, notable teams such as B8 and HEROIC failed to maintain their momentum from Stage 1, succumbing to the increasing pressure of the tournament. In contrast, Legacy executed a flawless 3-0 run, securing its spot in Stage 3. FaZe Clan, however, had a more tenuous journey, narrowly advancing with a dramatic five-round victory against MIBR. With s1mple stepping in as a high-profile stand-in, FaZe remains a major attraction for viewership.

Brazilian teams once again led the broadcast statistics, largely due to the influence of popular community caster Gaules, whose streams have consistently ranked among the event’s most-viewed. MIBR topped Stage 2 in total watch hours, while FaZe ranked first in average viewership per match.

Overall, the figures from Stage 2 nearly doubled those from Stage 1, encompassing peak viewers, average viewers, and total watch time. English and Polish-language broadcasts experienced the most significant increases, while Mongolian viewership saw a slight decline, attributed to The MongolZ yet to make an appearance.

Stage 3, commencing on June 12, promises an exhilarating lineup featuring renowned teams like Team Vitality, NAVI, and Team Spirit. With only eight playoff spots available and global interest surging, the upcoming segment of the BLAST.tv Austin Major is poised to deliver unprecedented excitement and intensity.
